What a mattress clean removes
It lifts the everyday build-up that settles into the top layers of a mattress. Most of that is dust and dead skin cells, which is exactly what dust mites feed on, along with loose fibres, hair and the general grime that gathers under a fitted sheet over months of use.
Vacuuming does the heavy work here. We draw the loose matter out of the surface and seams first, then treat the fabric so it feels and smells cleaner. Visible marks on the cover are tackled as far as the fabric allows.
- Surface dust and dead skin cells
- Loose hair, lint and stray fibres
- Everyday marks sitting on the cover fabric
- Stale smells held in the top layer
How the clean is done
We start by vacuuming the whole surface, working into the piping and seams where debris collects. Then we apply a cleaning solution and agitate the fabric to release dirt held in the fibres, and we lift the residue back out rather than leaving it sitting in the mattress.
The clean is low-moisture by design. We use enough product to clean the surface and no more, so the core underneath does not get soaked. A soaked mattress takes days to dry and can hold damp inside, and that is the thing we work to avoid.
Stains, sweat and odours
Sweat and urine are the usual culprits behind both staining and smell. Our surface clean reduces both, and in many cases a mark that has not had long to set will lift well and the area will smell noticeably fresher afterwards.
We will be honest about the limits. Deep-set stains that have soaked through and dried into the padding may not clear fully, because the discolouration sits below the layer a surface clean can reach. We always tell you what we expect before we start, so you are not surprised by the result.
Drying before you sleep on it
Let the mattress dry fully before bedding goes back on. Because the clean is low-moisture, the surface is usually touch-dry in a few hours, though a cool or humid room slows that down and a warm, airy one speeds it up.
Sealing a damp surface under sheets traps the moisture and can leave it smelling musty, which undoes the work. Open a window or get some air moving across the room, and only make the bed once the cover feels properly dry to the hand.
