Do you need to be there for end of tenancy cleaning?

15 June 2026

Not usually. Most end of tenancy cleans are carried out on key access, with nobody home, because the property is empty by that point anyway. What matters is that the team can get in, reach every room, and lock up afterwards. A quick plan for keys and access is all it takes.

Why you do not need to be home

By the end of a tenancy the property is normally cleared, so there is nothing to supervise. Many tenants hand over keys and leave the team to it, then collect them later or let the agent take over. The work is the same whether you wait or not.

How access usually works

There are a few common setups: you meet the team to hand over keys, you leave keys in a key safe, the agent or landlord provides access, or you let the team in and head off. Tell us which suits you and we confirm it before the day.

What to sort before the day

Two things are easy to forget. The water and electricity need to be on, because the clean relies on both. And the property should be empty so every surface and cupboard can be reached. A move-out checklist covers the rest.

What we confirm with you

Before the visit we agree the access plan, a contact number for the day, and where the keys go afterwards. You can set it up when you book through the instant quote, and see what is included in the clean.

Quick answers

Can you collect keys from the agent? Often yes, by arrangement. Just give us the details when you book.

Do the water and power need to be on? Yes. The clean needs running water and electricity.

How do I get the keys back? However suits you, agreed in advance, whether that is a meet-up, a key safe or the agent.

This is general guidance. Access arrangements are confirmed with your booking.
