Camden is mostly flats, and which kind of flat decides where a check-out clerk spends their time. The Georgian terraces around Bloomsbury and Primrose Hill, and the Victorian conversions running up through Kentish Town, Belsize Park and Hampstead, are old stock with old kitchens. That means oven grease, worn carpet on the stairs, and the fiddly period bits a clerk likes to mark: sash-window bars, cornicing and deep skirting that hold dust.

The newer side of the borough is a different job. The King’s Cross blocks around N1C and the conversions near Camden Town are glass and hard surfaces, so the marks are smears on full-height windows, fine dust on the tops of things, and the insides of integrated appliances. Camden runs visitor parking through your online Camden Account, with nothing to display in the windscreen, so if you want the team by the door you set up a visitor session for the slot. They come in short blocks or as an all-day permit, and the price moves with the vehicle’s emissions and the zone. Most of the borough is a controlled parking zone, so it is worth sorting before move-out day.

Two things only Camden really throws up. The south of the borough, around Bloomsbury and Holborn, sits inside the Congestion Charge zone, which matters if you are booking a removal van as well as the clean.
